Plot: (from imdb.com) Two New York cops get involved
in a gang war between members of the Yakuza, the Japanese Mafia. They arrest
one of their killers and are ordered to escort him back to Japan. In Japan,
however, he manages to escape. As they try to track him down, they get deeper
and deeper into the Japanese Mafia scene and they have to learn that they can
only win by playing the game the Japanese way.
Review: I`ll say, it Michael Douglas is a badass!!!
Around this time, late 80s early 90s, he was at his peak. Such an entertaining
actor who engages you. In this movie, he gets to be at his best as a tough New
York cop who does take any bullshit. The things he says, so very cool. His
pairing with Andy Garcia works well too, they`ve got good chemistry as
partners.
The
setting in Japan makes it different than most cop movies. However by the end it
changes from a serious drama into more of a buddy cop movie. Overall it’s a decent
movie but if it weren`t for Douglas`s awesomeness it would have been brought
down a bit.
Score: 7/10
