I thought I would start something new and review some
documentaries. When one is good it makes you extremely interested in the
subject matter. But when it is not it can be extremely dull.
The
subject of the ET videogame is one that is interesting to gamers out there.
There is a stigma attached to the game that it is the worst game of all time
and responsible for the downfall of Atari and the industry as a whole. This doc
focuses on the search for the illustrious New Mexico dump where millions of
cartridges are supposedly buried. We go through the history of Atari and meet
various people who were a part of the growing company in the early 80s. The doc
gives a different perspective on the circumstances that led to what became of
the ET game. It does a good job of showing that putting all the blame on ET is
an oversimplification of what the real issues were. It is a good documentary
for anyone interested in the game industry but I feel it might not be for
someone who is not a gamer.
Score: 7/10
