Plot: Freddy is haunting a pregnant Alice by getting
into her unborn son’s dreams.
Review: For A
Nightmare on Elm Street 4, I said that Freddy’s resurrection scene was one
of the most ridiculous I’d ever seen. The resurrection scene in this movie… I
can’t even explain what happened! It had something to do with a mutant baby
Freddy. I don’t know where it came from.
Freddy
continued his downward spiral into comedic relief. He had multiple one-liners
for each of his kills. The body count was not high in this movie though. Some
of the kills were good, one in particular, the gluttonous death of a model, was
not.
The story itself had some
elements that worked, like Alice’s father becoming a better person. The main
mission to find the remains of Freddy’s mother because her spirit was the only
thing that could stop him, was really far-fetched. We’ve seen her spirit in
previous movies and she never mentioned any of that. It also feels weird that
Alice had a new group of friends to replace all the ones who got killed in the last
movie. She got over that quickly!
Overall,
it didn’t feel like much effort was put into the movie. Other than the makeup
effects, which were superb, nothing else felt like it was thought through and
in the end the plot was messy.
Score: 5.5/10
