Movie Reviews #35 - Flashdance (1983)

Plot: (from imdb.com) A Pittsburgh woman with two jobs as a welder and an exotic dancer wants to get into ballet school.

Review: The iconic movie Flashdance has, well a lot of dancing. It’s a strange movie because our main character is a bit all over the place. She wants to be this high level dancer, yet she’s hesitant to go to the academy. She supposed has no money since she’s working 2 jobs, yet she lives in a relatively large studio apartment. Her boyfriend in the movie, who is actually her boss, is twice her age and she is constantly on again, off again with him. Sometimes it seems like she’s a stripper but the places she’s at is a bar and the dancing is more involved then what a stripper would do. Everything I just described leaves a confusing movie that was difficult for me to get. I will say though that the music was excellent, given that I am a lover of the 80s.

Score: 6/10
