Movie Reviews #14 - St-Elmo's Fire (1985)

Plot: (from imdb.com) A Group of friends, just out of college, struggle with adulthood. Their main problem is that they're all self-centered and obnoxious.

Review: This movie contains the collection of what was called the Brat pack. A bunch of young 80s actor who would go on to star with each other in so many other 80s movies. For the movie that started it though, it’s not that great. The story seems to be all over the place. The flow just doesn’t feel right. Maybe there’s too many characters and to be honest they’re not all that likable. As the above plot description states, they are self-centered and obnoxious. If you’re looking for a fun 80s movie like the Breakfast Club this is not the place. Serious topics get dealt with such as infidelity and drug abuse. Maybe it just made me feel uncomfortable because of how close to reality it skirts.

Score: 5/10
