Wednesday Night Ramblings - November 25 2015 - WWE drops the ball again

They did it once again. WWE could have used the huge setback of their champion Seth Rollins getting injured and done something interesting. They could have a made a new mega star with this tournament. But what did they do? They made Roman Reigns win it and then Sheamus cashed in the Money in the Bank and took the title. Both are equally as uninteresting as champion. Now we’re going to have months of an uninteresting feud. I have tickets to the Royal Rumble in January and I have just lost so much interest in it. Why does this company always have to play it safe? Why couldn’t they have done something completely crazy out of nowhere? I love Cesaro and everything he does but they didn’t have to necessarily go with him. What if Neville had won the whole thing? Wouldn’t that have been something worth tuning in to? No, we get Sheamus, who’s already been world champion and didn’t set the world on fire with his run. I need a break from this stuff, I’m thinking I won’t watch at all until the TLC pay per view (or special event, whatever the hell they want to call these nowadays). I need to step away and collect my thoughts before I get too annoyed.

WWE Reviews #3 - True Giants (2014)

This collection from WWE features about 20 mini biographies of various “Giants” throughout WWE history. They can be a liberal on the term giant (I would never consider Mark Henry a giant, he’s more of a big man). These mini biographies are good for anyone who does not know much about wrestling history, but for those who are well versed, there is not much new information here. It also can be quite sad at times. Many of the men mentioned here are no longer alive but we do get nice stories told from their close friends. This compilation is decent enough to watch if you catch it on the WWE Network, but I would not recommend going out and buying it full price.

Wednesday Night Ramblings - November 18 2015 - Why is ISIS a thing?

This week’s post is going to be a short one. I don’t like to talk about politics or religion. This is a place where I like to have fun, keep it light and talk about entertainment. But sometimes there are things that happen in the world that just can’t be ignored. ISIS decided to attack the innocent people of Paris. It’s open season on these assholes. Their stupid excuses of religion make no sense. Religion, although not my cup of tea, should be something to bring people together. But these scumbags think it should be about creating a shit world of boredom and stupidity. I wonder what kind of world is it where these kind of groups exist. I just hope the world doesn’t start lumping all Muslims with these pieces of shit. There’s still a lot more good than bad out there in the world, we just need to cut off the rotten parts.

Movie Reviews #42 - A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989)

Plot: Freddy is haunting a pregnant Alice by getting into her unborn son’s dreams.

Review: For A Nightmare on Elm Street 4, I said that Freddy’s resurrection scene was one of the most ridiculous I’d ever seen. The resurrection scene in this movie… I can’t even explain what happened! It had something to do with a mutant baby Freddy. I don’t know where it came from.

Freddy continued his downward spiral into comedic relief. He had multiple one-liners for each of his kills. The body count was not high in this movie though. Some of the kills were good, one in particular, the gluttonous death of a model, was not.

The story itself had some elements that worked, like Alice’s father becoming a better person. The main mission to find the remains of Freddy’s mother because her spirit was the only thing that could stop him, was really far-fetched. We’ve seen her spirit in previous movies and she never mentioned any of that. It also feels weird that Alice had a new group of friends to replace all the ones who got killed in the last movie. She got over that quickly!

Overall, it didn’t feel like much effort was put into the movie. Other than the makeup effects, which were superb, nothing else felt like it was thought through and in the end the plot was messy.

Wednesday Night Ramblings - November 11 2015 - Seth Rollins Injury

On Thursday night last week, I first read about WWE Champion Seth Rollins injury. During a live event in Dublin, he tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus. He is going to be out of action for 6 to 9 months due to the injury and had to vacate the championship. This was a hard blow to me since I am a big Seth Rollins fan. He has one of the most exciting move sets in the WWE and his high profile matches are almost always excellent. His promo skills could still use some work, but he is still above average compared to the current roster. He has become a main attraction in the business. Furthermore, I had just purchased tickets to the Royal Rumble in January and was hoping to see him then, which is no longer going to happen.

The WWE Championship will now be awarded to the winner of a tournament that will take place at Survivor Series on November 22nd. Of course, none of this was part of WWE’s plan. It’s unknown whether or not his scheduled opponent at that event, Roman Reigns, would have defeated him, but it feels like Rollins was supposed to be part of the long term plans for the world championship. Despite this setback, it presents the WWE with a unique opportunity; create new main eventers. For the last few years, WWE has been slow in creating main event players. Now, with all the injuries, part time schedules and people off doing other projects, they’re in a jam. It’s time for the WWE to take a chance on someone new, otherwise their long term future will be in jeopardy.
